The field of laser vision correction is constantly evolving and with the new advances being made both patients and doctors have a better sense of comfort and security during the LASIK procedure.
For many years, effective results have been achieved with the LASIK procedure. With the advanced lasers now available, side effects have been minimized through precise, controlled correction that benefits all patients.
The Alcon Surgical WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser has FDA-approval and uses the flexible performance of Wavefront Optimized® LASIK technology. with speed, accuracy and safety. The surgeon is provided with the ability to precisely coordinate and align the position of both the head and the eyes.
WaveLight® Technology
The WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser procedure uses advanced wavefront technology to compensate for the curvature of the cornea and preserve its shape, effectively reducing side effects such as poor night vision, glare and halos. Each laser vision correction procedure is customized for the refraction and corneal curvature of each patient.
Previous laser vision correction techniques focused only on the centered front of the cornea, resulting in a flattened circular area that ended abruptly and created spherical aberrations that could lead to unwanted side effects. The WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser tracks pupils to automatically center and provide centered ablations.
Speed and Accuracy
The WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser system employs a 0.68 mm small-spot laser beam that transmits between 400 pulses per second, a higher rate than any other laser available for this type of procedure. A correction of one diopter requires just two seconds of treatment. This laser is also able to treat a pupil size between 1.5 mm to 8.0mm, making it an ideal choice for patients with large pupils or those concerned with night vision.
Eye Tracker
Eyes make constant involuntary movements, even when we sleep or remain motionless. This can make it difficult for the surgeon to achieve the most precise correction during surgery. The WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser system includes a closed loop eye tracker that tracks the eye’s location during surgery to make sure that the eye has not moved before delivering the next pulse of laser energy. Eye movements are tracked with each laser pulse. With this eye tracking system, treatment errors caused by movement of the eye are reduced.
Perfect Pulse Technology®
Perfect Pulse Technology controls every single pulse transmitted by the laser, to ensure the accuracy, safety and speed of the procedure. With this monitoring, only every fifth pulse overlaps the previous one, reducing the risks of overheating the cornea. This also adds to the speed, precision and safety offered by the WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser system.
Results of the Procedure
After the WaveLight® Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser procedure, patients are able to experience corrected vision. The laser offers highly customized cornea reshaping for the best possible results from almost any type of laser vision correction.
